The Socialist Group in the E.P. & the P.E.S.

The Europe that now day looks up for path and direction. The socialists take the initiative to shape the priorities and the goals, to provide for a vision for the Europe of tomorrow. It the socialists, the workers movements and parties that shaped the social Europe. Today they have the historic responsibility to conceive again, what means social Europe, but also what means a globalized and demanding, one should say, society, which has a need for competition, for competitiveness, but also of social cohesion. The Socialist Group of the European Parliament discusses and shapes a series of important issues among other the issue of economic growth, the issue of employment, of protection of the environment, of the agricultural economy, of the perspectives of the agricultural economy in the European Union, and of course, the issue of the treatment of enlargement, as a new element that we have to face with a positive stand, so as to make the most of the human potential. In order to create a Europe of values. Not to invest in cheap employment, but to invest on value and man, in education and research. These are the priorities as a European socialist party. European citizens will confront three fundamental issues: First, if the Union in the future will continue to be sensitive to the needs of society, especially those groups of people and regions that require the most assistance. Second, if the Union will have a strong voice on the world stage, in order to promote peace, democracy, human rights and development. And third, if the Union will respect the differences within it, its diversity alongside national heritage.
