"We have entered a period that makes it imperative that we have a strategic plan for Greece's position in a global environment. We need to support the notion of a strong nation, something that requires a new approach to what
the government's role must be, as well as the role people must also play."
For the President of PASOK, participation in the decision making process is what the people demand. A need to feel connected to all that is taking place around them. This was a key point stressed in an interview that touched upon the major issues confronting the Greek public ahead of the European Parliament elections on June 13.
"In the next decade, Greece can and should become a major force in the Balkans and the SE Mediterranean," said Mr. Papandreou. "An 'exporter' of education, health care, culture, high technology, research and innovation in the region."
