The President of the Pan-Hellenic Socialist Party George A. Papandreou took part and addressed a greeting at the pre-electoral meeting of the Bulgarian Socialist Party

“I am very happy to be here today. I am carrying the fighting farewell from millions of socialists in Greece. I too support the drive of Bulgaria towards the European Union and it is a great pleasure for me that from the day after tomorrow I’ll be working with the future Prime Minister Sergey Stanisef.

Sergey is not only my friend, he is a new politician of Europe, he has the appreciation of Europe and everybody sees him as a new hope for the socialists in the European Union. Sergey is the person that convinced European socialists to admit as full member the Bulgarian Socialist Party to the European Socialist Group.

That is why, us socialists, all of Europe’s socialists, we support the great victory of the Bulgarian Socialist Party in the coming elections.

Tomorrow I’ll meet with all the heads of the socialists’ parties in Vienna. I’ll transmit them the enthusiastic message of victory from Bulgaria, your victory. I’ll transmit them the message that us, from this coin of Europe, we fight and we are sure that this region will become the region of peace and cooperation within the European Union.

Tomorrow, all of us socialists will say with one voice again, that Bulgaria will be member of the EU in 2007 with Prime Minister Sergey Stanisef.

I wish you success. I wish a great victory for the socialists in Bulgaria. First-rate success for the Bulgarian people.”
